No person in the city shall knowingly resist or obstruct the performance by one known to the person to be a peace officer of any authorized act within his official capacity. Any person assaulting, striking or fighting with any peace officer who is discharging his duties in the city shall be considered guilty of a violation hereof. (Prior code § 27-2-2)
