There is imposed a replacement vehicle tax of fifty dollars ($50.00) on any passenger car (as passenger car is defined in Section 1-157 of the Illinois Vehicle Code (Ill. Rev. Stat., Ch. 95 1/2, Para. 1-157), a copy of which is attached to the ordinance codified in this chapter as Exhibit A and by reference made a part hereof), purchased within the corporate limits of the city by or on behalf of an insurance company to replace a passenger car of an insured person in settlement of a total loss claim.
