Chapter 17.16 R-3 ONE-FAMILY DWELLING DISTRICT
Section 17.16.090 Accessory building standards.
A. Height. An accessory building shall
have a maximum height of ten feet at the eaves.
B. Size. An accessory building must
be smaller than the primary building, and is limited to a
maximum exterior perimeter dimension of nine hundred (900) square feet when measured at
ground level.
C. Foundation. An accessory building
must be placed on a foundation consisting of a
nonmovable concrete slab, concrete piers and/or concrete block with footings, as required by the
building inspector.
D. Building Material. An accessory
building s external building material must either be of
horizontal lap siding of wood, vinyl, metal, brick or masonry; or of vertical wood panel siding.
Vertical metal siding is not allowed. Roofing material must consist of asphaltic composite wood
shake, slate, tile or rubber.
E. Rear Yard. An accessory building
must not be built within five feet of the rear lot line and
shall not occupy more than thirty (30) percent of the required rear yard.
F. Side Yard. An accessory building
must meet the side yard requirements of the district in
which the building is to be located.
G. Front Yard. An accessory building
is not allowed in a front yard and no accessory
buildings may be closer to the street than the main building. (Ord. 1526 § 1 (part), 1996: Ord.
