RESPONSIBILITIES
The Engineering & Inspections Department assists in developing the design and construction of certain public works capital improvements and maintenance projects. The Engineering & Inspections Department is also responsible for overseeing and issuing all building and compliance functions.

CITY engineer
The City Engineer is responsible for providing all engineering services for the City related to streets, construction, planning, and stormwater management. This position is also the Floodplain Administrator.
assistant CITY ENGINEER
The Assistant City Engineer assists the City Engineer in planning and directing the efficient development and construction of public works projects.
Land use & planning coordinator
The Land Use & Planning Coordinator reviews and analyzes development proposals for zoning compliance and community benefit; collaborates with the Assistant Planner, City Engineer, and other department staff on reviews for zoning compliance, bolsters economic development efforts, guides the creation of a unified development code to update and modernize the building, zoning, subdivision and related elements of the City’s development regulations.
building official
The Building Official oversees building and compliance functions, including inspections, plan review, issuance of building permits, and code enforcement. This position also serves as the City's Subdivision Administrator and ADA Coordinator.
assistant planner
The Assistant Planner is the first point of contact for information and initial intake of applications related to building, zoning and code compliance.
code compliance officer
The Code Compliance Officer is responsible for identifying violations of all City codes including building, property maintenance, nuisance, sign and zoning codes. The position is responsible for taking appropriate actions to ensure community health, safety, and welfare.
